My Trip to Victoria

Outside the undersea garden place, I already posted this but I like it.

The floating undersea garden, a little overpriced

The Harbor

giant seastar, with grey fish

Sea star with orange fish

a view of the windows, there was a dive show going on.

Creepy wax museum

More creepy wax museum, many pictures I took were too dark.

This chair was not made of wax

Wax Buddha

Victoria BC's Pioneer Square is a pioneer cemetary.

Castle Craigdarroch was a large house built by an industry baron in the 1880s, its all hand carved wood, and stained glass, the furnishings are not original, but are from the right period.

Every stained glass window was different, mostly thistles and other flowers from the family's Scottish and British roots.

Hand embroidered fire screen, every fireplace in the castle had one.

there was no explanation of this item, what it looked like to me, is this was a hand knotted hair piece, made with real hair, it was seriously elaborate.

Hair and stained glass reflection. Bonus.

whats a museum without knitting!

Hand carved lizard detail, I wish this picture was better.

Billiard Table, the plaque said mostly the ladies played.

Um, I am currently obsessed with fake food... I think its the prop person in me.

Telescope

The view from the top of the staircase... also a bad picture, sorry

Every post in the staircase, hand carved, and alternating.

Ball gown

View from the top.

An old piano, this was available to anyone who wanted to play, provided you could play that is...

Dance Card

More stained glass...

Fancy duds for dudes too.

This carpet is an old time prop favorite at the Intiman... not this exact one, of course, but this same pattern.

A Model of the castle

More fake food

this vase was cool

Fake bacon and eggs, and below... I was trying to get the high chair.

this was in the gift store, and I might need to knit one.
We didn't make it to anymore cool places after this, the castle was about a mile and a half from downtown, and we ran out of time, plus my phone battery was not holding up well...
so.... this is the end of my pictures.

Raw corn salad

Original recipe
1 clove diced garlic
2 green onion diced
1 serrano chili diced
juice of a large lemon or lime
1 cup diced cilantro
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp cayennne pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
4 ears of corn
2 red bell peppers diced
1 large avocado

My most recent recipe -
garlic,
3/4 cup diced leeks (leek season)
diced anaheim chili diced
No cilantro (I think its gross)
lemon
sea salt
cayenne
olive oil
corn, red bell peppers, avocado,
1 cup small cherry tomatoes - I got orange ones, to add a different color.

cut the corn off the cob, and mix together... super easy. I will try lime next time, since I keep reading that lime and corn together makes the niacin in corn more available, haven't heard its the same with lemons, which either means, no one ever found out, or its not the same... I have also just read that Olive oil, might not be the best oil to use daily, it is high in omega 9, but not in omega 3, the fancy books recommend hemp seed oil, flax seed oil or sesame seed oil, since hemp and flax oil are gross, and sesame is delicious. I'm switching to sesame... you don't got to tell me twice.

I also made an asian broccoli salad, but I didn't take a picture, it will have to wait, I'll post that after the colonoscopy, when I can go back on a high fiber diet....

Speaking of which, I am going to feast on meat and eggs for 2 1/2 days, woo hoo, I think I am also going to make some mashed potatoes... not really that excited about it... but it will be great.

lost update

I also, found a draft of a post from July, and I am very sorry for not posting it at the time, I am not sure what happened, its posted now, and you can easily get there here

Lost Treasure

my main camera these days is my phone, and it takes a while to remember to upload the pictures to the computer, so I can put them on the blog.... everything else can be done from my phone, but not the blog. So, many of these photos are from a while ago. these first two are of Dennis, in a spare costume from Ruined, in the backstage hallway, in the first you can see Russell, one of the actors, and in the second, you can also see Jeanette, so... Ruined where backstage the men dressed like women, and the women dressed like men.

This next one is the benefit concert the day after Ruined closed. It was to raise money for the women in the Congo. This is actually my view when I run a spotlight at the Intiman.

Next up a salmon in the ballard locks fish run.
followed by a picture of both the lock, and a beautiful day.

Its very hard to manage the pictures and write text since the photos don't line up in the draft like they do in the preview... I will have to figure it out better. But after the locks, we have a sampling of photos of my trip to Victoria. Where I saw a castle with amazing stained glass, a Pioneer Square much different from Seattle's, superfine embroidery, and an undersea garden... I was a gorgeous day too. I'll do a whole post on Victoria, BC. it was great, but fast.

An alarm went off!

I guess the "Blog" alarm is set fir Saturday, not sure what I was thinking. But there were additional things I want to tell you, blog.

Um first, I lost 6 pounds from doctor appointment to doctor appointment. I think that will be when I will post that um tidbit. So, 64 to go, that's to the pretty unreasonable goal for my frame, more reasonable would be 54 to go, 44 if you think in terms of before reconstruction. That's doable.

Today, I met up with some friends from college, who are in town for a trip, had some tea, it was nice. And this morning, I had breakfast at Thrive, which is a raw food place in Ravena (65th and Roosevelt). I had a chia bowl with fruit and almond milk, it was good, but a little bit gloopy and I couldn't eat it all, so I got hungry pretty soon after. I also had a beet and Ginger juice, which was intense!

I also almost bought a salt sampler (6 fancy pants salts) and a book on vegan raw bento boxes but I escaped.

So, when I am more prepared I plan to post some recipes of things I make, as I try them out or alter them. But I think I need to post the original recipes along with what I did, and I can't multitask like that on the phone.

I have to go back to work in just minutes, for the second show of the day, but it is such a beautiful day.

I'll post again Monday, you can trust me - I set an alarm

Sorry about yesterday!

So, two doc appointments first.

The first one was just an annual exam, pap smear fun, everything felt fine to her, so that's good, tamoxifen is bad for the ovaries and other junk down there. Next appointment was on the phone with someone to talk about and schedule the colonoscopy, he said the... prep... for the procedure is memorable, since you need to be clean all up in there, then they sedate you for the procedure, insert alien abduction joke. If they see any polyps they will remove them, and any other um, stuff. On Monday I head up there for prep medicine, and instructions. So that seems a good time to update.

I'm going to post this before Tori calls again.
